After a two race hiatus from the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Parker Chase with Starworks Motorsport will return to racing this weekend at Road America for the next round of the GTD class championship. The team pulled out of the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and Lime Rock Park rounds to prepare the No. 8 Vertical Bridge Audi R8 LMS for the team’s remaining races of the season.
“I’m glad to be getting back to racing instead of watching,” said Chase. “We have had a few issues but confident we have our car in top shape to be ready to battle for the win this weekend in Road America. It’s a big event for Vertical Bridge so let’s make them happy!”
Chase also returns to competition with his newest partners, Randy Rogers and the Randy Rogers Band. The Texas based group joined with Chase last month to celebrate its 19th anniversary this year and promote its eighth studio album, Hellbent.
Despite the struggle with on track performance, the team’s execution has been near flawless, using quick pit stops and unique fuel strategies to gain position on track. Road America, the longest track on the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech schedule, sits on 640 acres in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. The 4.048 mile circuit holds 14 turns, and one long straight which is most beneficial to the sports cars with the best straight line speed. The hilly road course is a fan favorite amongst motorsports enthusiasts, always delivering exciting racing action no matter the series.
The IMSA Road Race Showcase for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship begins Sunday, August 4 at 1:35PM Central. Fans can watch live on the NBC Sports App and also listen live via IMSA Radio.
